On 26 November 2025, the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty hosted an international round table titled “The Traditional Weaponry System of the Turkic Peoples: History of Development, Structure, and Ethno-Cultural Function.” The event brought together leading scholars, museum specialists, and researchers in ethnography and arms studies from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and other countries.
The State Museum of History of Uzbekistan took an active part in the scientific discussions. Jamshid Peremkulov, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Head of Department at the Tashkent Branch of the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, delivered a presentation on “The Role of Military Attributes in Historical Perception.”
In his speech, he highlighted the historical functions of military equipment in Central Asia, their socio-cultural meanings, and the significance of rare museum artifacts preserved in regional collections.
The round table also addressed a wide range of topics, including:
the origins and evolution of the Turkic weaponry system;
ancient Turkic military traditions;
the meaning of religious inscriptions on weapons and armour;
firearms of the Second World War;
scientific study of historical weapon collections preserved in museums.
Participants exchanged views and proposed further development of scientific cooperation between museums.
The State Museum of History of Uzbekistan regards this international meeting as an important platform for studying Turkic heritage, sharing expertise, and strengthening cultural collaboration.
